My Review:
After 15-year-old Princess Branwen sees her brother being kill by a gang of marauding Saxons. Her whole life is torn right before her eyes. And she is taken from her home to stay with her parents friends. Until it is safe to journey up north, to marry a prince she doesn't love.. While struggling to adjust to a pampered and dainy new life as a princess, Branwen finds herself increasingly drawn to her old ways as a warrior maiden. Teased and taunted because the people around her cannot understand her strength and masterly with slingshots. While a wild falcon that follows her around and a mysterious young boy that has a few secrets of his own, are her only friends.. As the days goes by to become the princess her parents want her to be. Her heart just wants to be free and to be the warrior princess she has dream of being...
That's when a goddess shows up to tell her destiny, to follow in the path of being a warrior and bring peace to the land. But when Branwen finds out the goddess was the one that cause her brother's death, she choose to follow her own path. But before she leaves, the goddess warns her that if she didn't make the right choice, someone she loves will die. With that warning in thought.. Branwen lives the rest of the few days she has, to train to becoming a warrior. When she finds out some disturbing news that her family and home are going to be destroy by the same warriors that kill her brother. But when the goddess warning come to be... Branwen will have to make a difficult choice, to save one person she loves and let the other die in peace.... Thus begins her journey toward becoming the defender of her people. Daughter to a warrior mother and a high king, Brawen must quickly press on to maturity and decide whether to marry as tradition and her family wills or fellow an uncertain, but prophesied destiny as a Warrior Princess...
My Thoughts:
-This book was so amazing.. I really like the historical fantasy, and the strong descriptions of medieval Britain, with realistic situations and the intense battle scenes were insane..
-Lets not forget the characters... They were all amazing and very interesting to read. I love Brawen's strong will character, she changes so much though out the book.. From her awkwardness of girlhood... To the assurance of the powerful young woman she is about to become... And the plot was very interesting as well.. I really love the whole medieval time period, very cool..
-So with twist and turns around every corner, strong heroines, ancient magic, and a hint of romance... This book will have you hook on page one and also have you flipping though pages wondering what will happen next....
-And I give this book 5/5 stars...
