My Review:
For sixteen year old cheerleader Isobel Lanley, everything was perfect. She's top flyer on Trenton cheerleading team, that is in serious contention for Nationals. She's got the football-player boyfriend, Brad. What more can you ask for? All she has to do is pass her English class... But when her English teacher Mr. Swanson assigns partners instead of letting the students choose, to do a ten-page paper to write and an oral presentation to give on an author/poet from their book. She is horrified when she discovers who she is paired with... "Varen Nethers"...

A goth guy that  sits in the back corner writing something in a black notebook... Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp tongued, Varen makes it very clear  that he rather not have nothing to do with her either... They agree to meet and work on their project and what started as a partnership blossoms into a friendship, and then possibly into something  more... As they dig deeper into the murky realities of their chosen poet's life, Edgar Allan Poe.. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can't help but to give this enigmatic boy with piercing eyes another look..

She soon finds herself making excuses to be with Varen, and steadily pulls away from her friends and possessive boyfriend... As Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into Varen's  dream world that he has created though the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.. The more her world unravels around her.. Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmare....

His life depends on it....

My Thoughts:

-This book was unreal... I love how there was Edgar Allan Poe's stories mixed in this dark  and unreal world that Kelly Creagh created, and how they came alive though out  the pages of Varen's notebook...  Wow... Just wow......  Anyways, the plot in this book was very well developed, and felt so real like the pages were going to drag you to this  dream world like Isobel...

-The charcters in this book was unreal  too... Isobel was a huge surprise  for me.. At first I was concern that I wasn't going to enjoy her character at all, but... she totally switches  that around, when Isobel herself starts to change when Varen enters her life  for the first time... Her whole life starts to change when she meets Varen, like being the only one seeing things that are not there and entering a dark unreal world. While  also being the only one to save Varen before it's too late.. So though-out the book you can see how much she changes and how much stronger and braver she becomes....

-Now for Veren... I just have to say, wow.... He was filled with so many secrets and was cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp tongued toward Isobel though-out the book, that had me go... Huh? Then when I discover why he was like that toward Isobel.. And why he kept so much from her.. It completely shock me and made me go.. Wow! At the end....

-So yeah, this book was amazing, different and mysterious that had me hook on page one and wouldn't let me go... I also can wait to read the second book when it comes out next year in August....

-And I give this book 5/5 stars...
