My Reviews:
This book is about a sixteen year old girl named Tessa, who lost her parents when she was younger in a carriage accident. The only thing that she has to remember them by, is an angel pendant that she wears around her neck. She now lives with her aunt and her older brother Nate. Nate goes to London to get a job, to help Tessa and their aunt. But, after months of no word from her brother and her aunt falls terribly ill and soon passes away. Tess doesn’t know what to do, where to go, and who to turn to... Then suddenly Tessa gets a letter and a boat ticket to London from Nate. There Tessa's adventure begins.... When she gets to London she's so excited to see Nate after so long, but what she doesn't know is what's in store for her... Because what she finds out, is that her brother is not there and is off on business.. And in his place, are two elderly woman called the Black Sister and their names are Mrs. Black and Mrs. Dark... They want Tessa to go with them, but she soon discovers that it was a trick. So they kidnapped her and train Tessa’s special rare power where she can shape-shift to another person’s body by will... Tessa begins to question herself and these powers that she has, and wants to discover the truth behind what she truly is... She tries to escape but the sisters threatened Tessa to the point, that if she doesn’t listen to them they will do terrible harm to Nate... One of her escapes leads herself to be locked in a small room with no windows, just walls, a bed and a lock door... With no where to turn and no where to go, Tessa does the Dark sisters training, in hope that her brother is okay....
But, when a young boy named Will turns up to rescue her, and get her out of the Dark Sister’s house. She knows at last her prayers has been answered. He takes her to a place called the Institute, a place where these special warriors called the Shadow-hunters live and train, and they protect and help Tessa to find her brother. The people that she meets there, is Will of course. A blue-eyed boy that has a rage, and nobody takes any of his bull-crap specially Tessa. There’s Jem, who has white skin and white hair , who has a few dark secrets of his own. There’s Jasmine, who wants nothing to do with the Shadow-hunters and wants a way out of the Institute. Thomas, who is a servant at the Institute, a devoted servant of the Shadow-hunters, and has been for generations with his family. There’s Martha who’s another servant at the Institute who has a huge scar on her face and has a few secrets of her own as well.. There’s Charlotte who is the head of the Institute and is also very kind to Tessa... And there’s Henry a very funny guy, and is the husband of Charlotte. He’s always tinkling and making stuff for the Shadow-hunters. Some of his inventions sometimes never work... There's some other people that she meets as well at the Institute but thdon’t mention them very much.. So the Shadow-hunters help Tessa to find where her brother is located, and find out who this mysterious guy called the Magister a shadowy figure who runs a Club called, The Pandemonium Club, a secret organization where the Dark Sisters are members of. And they want Tessa to use her power and the Magister will do anything to claim her power for his own. And Tessa doesn’t know why he wants it... So Will and the other Shadow-hunters try to find out why and how Tessa is tied with all this. And also Tessa wants to find out more about the Shadow-hunters and there world around them.... She also has a triangle love between Will and Jem, at the end Tessa will have to make a choice between them... Who will she choose, Will or Jem???
My Thoughts:
-So yeah, that is what this book is about. I really enjoyed this book and the world that Cassandra Clare created. Really looking forward to reading the second book Clockwork Prince, that’s coming out this fall, and also read the other series that she did also.. The Mortal Instruments.
-I also enjoyed the characters in this book too. Which I already mentioned above. But, anyways.... I enjoyed how Tessa is swept into this magical world that she had no idea existed and also along the way finds a deep love that she's never experienced before...
-I also recommended this book to anyone who loves-magic, action, mystery and very hot boys .... If that's all the gender you enjoy, then this is the book for you....
-And I give this book 5/5 stars....
